Deadspin has an interesting article up on a real problem in the sports landscape — particularly in the NBA. The article centers on the issue of athletes and their gold-digging wives.

Reportedly, a current NBA player wrote an article for ESPN exploring the issues of infidelity and marriage in a professional athlete’s life. It’s a great read and one that needs to be talked about, because there are now shows on TV, like Basketball Wives, which do nothing to dispel the gold-digger myth that’s already out there. As far as I’m concerned they could’ve named this show “Terrible Women” and not have to change one goddamn thing in their marketing plan.

The godawful cast of Basketball Wives
The article also discusses how to strategically approach swinger agreements, child custody battles, and Eva Longoria. “Player X” also provides some practical advice to ballers everywhere:
“Sign. That. Pre. Nup.” Shit trick, you ain’t takin’ half!
If you ask me, the way to go is to model your game after Derek Jeter. You stay single during your prime years, smash out on girls like they were on a conveyor belt to your bedroom, have the entire free world know you’re smashing out on straight tens, and then when you’re close to hanging up that jockstrap you snag yourself a hot young broad like Minka Kelly.
Yup, Derek Jeter sure knows how to play the game the right way.
