In an effort to break away from her squeaky clean Disney image, Selena Gomez is doing whatever she can to rebrand herself as Slutty McSlutts a serious actress — by taking a part in a movie about gun-toting, bikini-clad Spring Breakers.
She admits as much in Interview magazine, “It was a mark thing for me—like, ‘This is what I want to be doing.’ I want to be taking myself seriously as an actress, and this was definitely a stretch.” She adds: “I mean, I’d never smoked a cigarette before in my entire life. It was really funny—they had to show me how to do it.”
Selena, I would’ve gladly shown you how to smoke a cigarette!
While Spring Breakers looks like a fun time, I doubt whether it’ll be nearly as raunchy as I could hope for, even with Kids writer, Harmony Korine, directing it. But hey, if it’s got Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine prancing around in itty bitty bikinis for the entire run time, I’ll enjoy it.
